- CrossTalk for Windows AutoDial Script, R.1
- ******************************************
-
- Briefly, AutoDial answers to the absence of a native circular dialing
- facility in CrossTalk for Windows. Installation and use are straight-
- forward. Copy AUTODIAL.XWC to your CrossTalk script directory and
- execute it. It will create an ASCII text file called AUTODIAL.DIR which
- serves as its directory; the file itself is easily edited, and is self-
- configuring. AUTODIAL.DIR is read each time the AutoDial script is
- run. If AutoDial appeals to you, you might consider entering it as the
- autoexecuting "Startup" script under the CrossTalk System menu (or in
- the appropriate place in your WIN.INI file).
-
- By default, AutoDial directly addresses the modem in order to ensure
- relatively transparent operation when CrossTalk itself is running as a
- background task. A "monitor" mode can be selected from the options
- menu, but while this may yield better error control, it is unsuitable
- for background circular dialing: in its current release, the CrossTalk
- script language provide no control over the "Dialing -" status box,
- which intrudes on a foreground task every time AutoDial cycles to a
- new number. On the other hand, if you wish to dial only one number,
- you should click the "Dial" rather than the "Start" button. The "Dial"
- function is identical to CrossTalk's native "Dial" command, while
- "Start" (in either default or "monitor" mode) is designed for a
- dialing queue. Finally, AutoDial's "Manual" command will always
- use the settings in NORMAL.XWP, if it exists; if it doesn't, then the
- current settings are used.
-
- A second script supplied with AutoDial cycles through all your .XWP
- files, adding a "hotkey" to AutoDial. If you desire this feature,
- HOTKEY.XWC will write a key definition, assigning Ctrl-D to run AutoDial,
- and enable the ShowActiveKeyBar, for all your .XWP files.
-
- Should you use HOTKEY.XWC and later wish you hadn't, a third script,
- UNDO.XWC, will remove the Ctrl-D hotkey to AutoDial from all of your
- .XWP files.
