  4. Briefly, AutoDial answers to the absence of a native circular dialing
  5. facility in CrossTalk for Windows.  Installation and use are straight-
  6. forward.  Copy AUTODIAL.XWC to your CrossTalk script directory and
  7. execute it.  It will create an ASCII text file called AUTODIAL.DIR which
  8. serves as its directory; the file itself is easily edited, and is self-
  9. configuring.  AUTODIAL.DIR is read each time the AutoDial script is
  10. run.  If AutoDial appeals to you, you might consider entering it as the
  11. autoexecuting "Startup" script under the CrossTalk System menu (or in
  12. the appropriate place in your WIN.INI file).

  14. By default, AutoDial directly addresses the modem in order to ensure
  15. relatively transparent operation when CrossTalk itself is running as a
  16. background task.  A "monitor" mode can be selected from the options
  17. menu, but while this may yield better error control, it is unsuitable 
  18. for background circular dialing: in its current release, the CrossTalk 
  19. script language provide no control over the "Dialing -" status box,
  20. which intrudes on a foreground task every time AutoDial cycles to a
  21. new number.  On the other hand, if you wish to dial only one number,
  22. you should click the "Dial" rather than the "Start" button.  The "Dial"
  23. function is identical to CrossTalk's native "Dial" command, while
  24. "Start" (in either default or "monitor" mode) is designed for a 
  25. dialing queue.  Finally, AutoDial's "Manual" command will always
  26. use the settings in NORMAL.XWP, if it exists; if it doesn't, then the
  27. current settings are used.

  29. A second script supplied with AutoDial cycles through all your .XWP
  30. files, adding a "hotkey" to AutoDial.  If you desire this feature, 
  31. HOTKEY.XWC will write a key definition, assigning Ctrl-D to run AutoDial,
  32. and enable the ShowActiveKeyBar, for all your .XWP files.

  34. Should you use HOTKEY.XWC and later wish you hadn't, a third script,
  35. UNDO.XWC, will remove the Ctrl-D hotkey to AutoDial from all of your
  36. .XWP files.
